Legend has it that in the late Yuan Dynasty when Hu Dahai, the general served for Zhu Yuanzhang who would be the following emperor in history, stationed troop in the southwest of the Wujiang River, where the available water was scarce. Then, Hu led his troop to dig for water, and for more than ten days, the Huhai Pond came into being, which became the biggest pond in Jinhua later and brought great benefits to the local people for generations. Thus, the pond is named in honor of Hu’s devotion.

Reputed as the Little West Lake, Huhai Pond Park receives significant attentions from all directions. This October, Huhai Pond Park opened its door and showed the magnificent water to the outside. It takes a large area of 2,930,000 sq. m, 95 percent of which is dedicated to the accomplishment of the plan, including 13 bridges, 16 buildings and a 6.4-kilometer-long greenway. According to the plan, the park has been divided into several parts: Leisure Square Area, Energetic Leisure Port Area, Ecological Residence Area, Wetland Park Area and Cultural Tourist Area, becoming a comprehensive city sports leisure area.
